About the Role

We are looking for an experienced IT DevOps Lead to drive the evolution of our cloud infrastructure in Google Cloud. This role combines strong technical expertise with hands-on leadership, ensuring our platforms are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with business goals.

You will lead the DevOps team and work closely with Architecture, Engineering, Security, and Product teams to improve reliability, accelerate delivery, and modernise our technology landscape.

Your Mission

As IT DevOps Lead, you will contribute and execute the DevOps strategy, shape the IT infrastructure roadmap, and promote best practices across the organisation.

Your mission is to build and operate reliable cloud platforms, strengthen engineering standards, and enable teams to deliver faster and more safely.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and operate secure, scalable, highly available cloud architectures in Google Cloud.

• Manage core infrastructure components, including Kubernetes clusters, CDNs, DNS, SSL lifecycle, VPNs, firewalls, and authentication systems.

• Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools such as Terraform.

• Own and evolve the CI/CD strategy across the full SDLC, using GitLab as the primary platform (GitLab CI/CD, Runners, Merge Requests, Environments, and Release pipelines) to improve deployment quality, traceability, and delivery speed.

• Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure strong observability.

• Lead high-availability (HA) implementations, disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity planning for enterprise solutions.

• Implement and monitor security controls aligned with internal and regulatory requirements.

• Optimise cloud costs using data-driven decision-making.

• Act as the escalation point for major incidents and lead post-incident reviews.

• Act as a hands-on leader: lead and develop DevOps engineers while actively contributing to architecture, automation, and platform improvements, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with Architecture, Engineering, Security, and Product teams to align infrastructure with business needs.

• Define and evolve the DevOps roadmap, with clear accountability for the DevOps portfolio of services and supporting cross-group initiatives aligned with enterprise priorities.

• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident resolution when required.

• Document infrastructure designs, standards, and operational procedures.

What You’ll Bring

• Strong experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Solid hands-on expertise with Terraform (IaC), GitLab CI/CD (Runners, Merge Requests, branching strategies, environments, release pipelines), and Kubernetes.

• Experience leveraging AI-driven tools and automation, including LLM-based solutions and autonomous agents (e.g., AIOps, AI-assisted CI/CD, infrastructure optimisation, intelligent runbooks, or developer productivity tooling) to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and engineering workflows.

• Good understanding of cloud networking, security, and observability (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).

• Proficiency in scripting and automation

• Proven experience as a hands-on technical leader, capable of setting direction while remaining actively involved in design decisions, reviews, and complex problem-solving.

• Ability to design resilient systems, reduce operational risk, and proactively drive continuous improvement.

• Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

• Relevant certifications such as GCP Professional Architect, Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD), Security, or FinOps.
