About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Automation Quality Engineer to join our Quality Engineering team in Málaga.

The role combines test automation and hands-on functional testing, working mainly with Playwright, JavaScript/TypeScript, and BDD. You will develop and maintain automated tests, investigate failures, and help improve testing practices across our products.

We are looking for someone with an AI-first mindset who actively uses AI-powered tools as part of their engineering workflow. You should be comfortable using AI to accelerate test development, investigate failures, improve test coverage, and make day-to-day engineering work more efficient, while applying sound technical judgement to validate the results.

Our Quality Engineering organization follows a collaborative model: we operate as an independent, multidisciplinary QE team, with quality representatives embedded within development teams to take ownership of product quality.

You will work alongside developers, product teams, and other QEs to identify issues early, improve test coverage, and support reliable releases.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain automated functional and end-to-end tests using Playwright and JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Write and maintain BDD scenarios using Gherkin and Cucumber-based frameworks.

• Maintain and improve the existing automation framework, focusing on reliability, reusability, and maintainability.

• Use AI-powered development tools as part of your daily workflow to accelerate test creation, refactoring, debugging, and maintenance.

• Explore and apply AI-driven approaches to Quality Engineering, identifying opportunities to improve test design, failure analysis, coverage, and overall testing efficiency.

• Investigate flaky tests, synchronization issues, and automation failures.

• Develop API tests to validate backend services and integrations.

• Design test cases and define appropriate testing coverage based on requirements, functionality, and risk.

• Perform manual, functional, regression, and exploratory testing when needed.

• Execute test suites, analyze results, and investigate defects.

• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive testing activities and improve existing test coverage.

• Work with developers and product teams to clarify requirements, identify potential issues, and resolve defects.

• Contribute to testing strategies and improvements to the team's QA processes.

• Share knowledge and collaborate with other Quality Engineers across the organisation.

Essential Requirements

• Proven professional experience developing and maintaining automated tests with Playwright, including reusable components, Page Objects, and fixtures.

• Strong programming skills in JavaScript and/or TypeScript, with a good understanding of asynchronous programming.

• Hands-on experience with BDD, Gherkin, and Cucumber or equivalent BDD frameworks.

• Experience with REST API testing, including request validation, response assertions, and error handling.

• AI-first engineering mindset, with hands-on experience using AI coding assistants or agentic development tools (such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as part of your regular development and testing workflow.

• Ability to apply AI effectively to Quality Engineering tasks, including test generation, code refactoring, debugging, test design, and failure analysis, while critically reviewing generated code and validating its correctness and reliability.

• Solid background in software testing and QA methodologies, including test design, functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing, with the ability to assess requirements, identify risks, and define appropriate test coverage.

• Experience investigating defects and working with development teams to identify and resolve issues.

• Ability to work independently, manage testing priorities, and take ownership of quality-related tasks.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with developers, product teams, and other QEs.

• Professional working proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in the iGaming industry, particularly with online casino games or gaming platforms.

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.

• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.

• Familiarity with Docker and containerized testing environments.

• Experience with cross-browser and cross-device testing, including Browserstack.

• Knowledge of SQL and database validation.

• Experience testing applications with asynchronous interactions, real-time updates, or canvas-based interfaces.

• Experience building AI-assisted testing workflows, custom agents, or integrations that improve testing processes.
